Despite their website stating they no longer accept same day bookings, the rude person on the phone wouldn’t even help when the booking system closed off bookings 2 days before. YHA has always been a go to for many people working out bush who sometimes have no means to get to town/Alice until the last minute. At the very least calling to book the day before should be more than ok. Very disappointed in this change.

Unfortunately, the staff forgot my swipe card so I needed to call them and they came within 10 minutes to give me my card (as I was checking in late). My luggage was kept safely and waiting for me next to my room. Only two others were in the room that night so it was good value for money. The kitchen was slightly cleaner this time round. I'd happily stay here again if I visit the Outback/Alice Springs. Thank you. 🙏

Good place to stay. The four-person female shared room was very comfortable for me; I especially liked the bed lamp integrated with the charging plug. The toilet and shower are clean, though they are semi-open (have a roof but are super well-ventilated), which means it can be a bit chilly on cold days.

The only downside is the kitchen lacks an exhaust hood, so there's always a heavy smell of cooking oil, and the shared living room right next to it ends up smelling of grease and noise.

We stayed five nights at the Alice Springs YHA. It is being managed by Matt who was extremely friendly and helpful. Our two person room was clean and comfortable. All the shared facilities were thoroughly cleaned daily and the laundry facilities worked really well. The pool and garden area are really nice. Keeping cars safe at the moment in Alice is an issue and Matt was very helpful in enabling people to bring their cars into the hostel 'compound' at night which was much appreciated. Would definitely recommend for a friendly, safe and good value stay.

Receptionists were friendly & helpful. Easy early check out & late check in.
I wouldn't book a 4bed dorm again. Better choose a room with 8 or more beds which are in a separate renovated building. The airconditioner wasn't working at both of my stays. And the olderly rooms are facing a noisy neighborhood as well. Small room & power sockets are not practical either. The rooms were clean but public area was mostly messy but thats because of some guests didn't care. And there were not many people checked in.
Kitchen is big but not practical and many things are broken. Same with bathrooms

Was much better than expected...Would be great if simple tea and coffee was available...Service was fantastic by the reception staff, left my case there securely for 3 days...arrived back and it was in my room waiting. Clean friendly and secure...I would use again if visiting Alice...

Very nice hostel and wonderful people working there. It can get cold in the room at night around this time of the year, so don't be shy to ask for a heater (they are available!).
I had a great time in Alice Springs and on my camping trip. I would recommend that you definitely come to this spot on earth to see for yourself how great it is. Thanks again YHA Alice Springs!
