At the outset, I write a caveat. Whatever I write will fall short of what I wish to convey.

We admitted my mother recovering from a stroke to this Hospital. Without exception, the entire team - doctors, admin team, nursing staff, physios, dietician, speech path, occupational therapist, chef, kitchen team, cleaning team and everyone else - is driven by spirit of care, love, warmth and service. This is something we as a family have not seen or experienced before. My mother's health is improving fast and we are eternally grateful. However, the bigger collateral benefit is - this Holroyd Hospital team has given me some lifelong lessons and teachings. I will endeavour to emulate them in my personal and professional life as North Star.

No words can express my family's gratitude and appreciation.

But.

Thank you......Thank you.....Thank you.

Holroyd Private Rehabilitation Hospital works with dedication, compassion, and professionalism. The entire team is not just hard-working but also deeply committed to the well-being of their patients, making a world of difference to families like ours. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the incredible team at Holroyd Private Rehabilitation Hospital for the exceptional care provided to my 83-year-old mother during her stay. She was admitted with two fractures in her left hip and leg, and the improvement she experienced within just one week was truly remarkable.

The physiotherapist deserves special recognition for their dedication, expertise, and unwavering encouragement that enabled my mother to stand again, a milestone we weren’t sure would be possible so soon. Their tailored approach and genuine care made all the difference.

The nursing staff, led by the compassionate and highly professional Nursing Manager, "Krissele", demonstrated unparalleled kindness, respect, and politeness at every turn. Their tireless efforts, patience, and attention to detail created an environment of comfort and trust, which was vital for my mother’s recovery.

A big thank you also to the exceptional rehab doctors, DR TATIANA VELITCHKO and DR YOUSIF, whose knowledge, responsiveness, and kind demeanor provided us with reassurance and confidence throughout this journey. Their collaborative approach and proactive care were evident in the progress my mother made under their guidance.

Was admitted here for bilateral brachialplasty in June 2018 - I had a horrific experience- and after a subsequent review of my medical records the lack of detailed and consistent documentation during this critical period is alarming. Despite experiencing significant pain that required continuous medication and oxygen support, there is no thorough record of my condition, or the interventions provided by the nursing staff. The failure to document my care for nearly 24 hours by the nursing staff, paired with the minimal and incomplete notes, severely compromises the ability to accurately review the adequacy of care I received.

It is beyond distressing to know that during a time when I was at my most vulnerable—post-surgery, in severe pain, and experiencing complications—basic nursing care and responsibilities were neglected. The fact that I was in such excruciating pain that I required substantial narcotic intervention, to the point that I needed supplemental oxygen, and yet this went undocumented for nearly 24 hours is unacceptable by any standard of care. This level of neglect, especially in terms of documentation and advocacy, is a gross deviation from the professional standards that should be upheld by any healthcare practitioner or institution.

This lack of proper record-keeping means there is no verifiable account of the care I received—or, more accurately, failed to receive—during that critical period. The nurses had an obligation to record my condition and pain levels, the medications administered, and the interventions taken, but they did not. This lapse not only affects my continuity of care but also undermines the accountability of everyone involved.

Even more troubling than the lack of documentation is the failure to advocate for me as a patient. The role of a nurse extends beyond just providing care—we are advocates. We are the ones who observe the patient’s condition closely, recognize when something is wrong, and escalate concerns when necessary.

The fact that I was in excruciating pain, my wound had opened, and I was vomiting violently from the drugs given in surgery that I needed multiple doses of antiemetics, should have been enough for the nursing staff to escalate my care to the attending doctor or higher, repeatedly if necessary. Yet, this did not happen.

If the nurses had fulfilled their duty and advocated for me by raising these issues with the surgeon, perhaps further complications could have been avoided. Even if the surgeon had ultimately chosen not to act, the nurses were obligated to continue pushing for my care or escalate to other medical personnel. Their failure to do so reflects a profound disregard for my well-being.

The consequences of this failure are clear: had the nurses acted as they should have, either through proper documentation or escalating my care, my pain and the complications I experienced might have been addressed sooner. Their neglect is not just a failure of procedure—it is a failure of compassion and duty, and it has had a direct impact on my health and recovery.

From a clinical and legal perspective, this absence of thorough documentation is deeply problematic. Not only does it fail to capture the severity of my symptoms and the need for ongoing intervention, but it also leaves a significant gap in the medical record that could impact any future reviews or inquiries into my care.

The lack of proper documentation during a period where I experienced such intense pain and distress calls into question whether the standards of care were adhered to, and it raises doubts about the accountability of the healthcare professionals involved.

The institutional failures at the hospital must be addressed, and safeguards need to be put in place to prevent these dangerous practices from continuing.

The negligence at both an individual and institutional level must be confronted to ensure that no other patient faces the same risks.

I am still here going through my rehab and just had to share my experience with all. There are not enough words of praise for all the STAFF members, all so aware of their patient’s needs and care. Every one around are very sweet and caring in every way. Food is excellent. I have lot of allergies, and the kitchen staff just takes it in their stride to my needs. Amazing !!! Just like being among your loving family. The staff is always very busy but even manage a few laughs now and than. What more can I say but that you are my Family just now. God Bless you all.

My elderly mother stayed here for two months and the staff and the food she said were fabulous.

Big fault however with the supplying of towels which they have ran out of three times and patients unable to shower as a result. This needs to be fixed.

Holroyd Private Hospital recently discharged my elderly father-in-law after a lengthy period of treatment and rehab. The care and respect he received from all staff was exceptional. Social Worker, Sarina Browne, in particular, was wonderful. She went far beyond what was required of her to ensure that dad was looked after pre and post discharge and we are very grateful for her efforts.

My husband came home from hospital yesterday after spending 7 weeks here. I have nothing but high praise for the Dr who treated him, ALL the nursing staff including those from the Uni, Physiotherapists and catering /cleaning team. We found them to be lovely caring & compassionate and we were kept up to date with his progress. Meals were of a very high standard and the facilities were very clean. I found Covid conditions & requirements were followed despite less staff on weekends. Without the magnificent effort of everyone here, my husband would not have been able to improve as much as he did, enabling him to return home instead of looking for an aged care placement at 66yrs of age. My heartfelt and sincere thanks go out to absolutely everyone there. I doubt he could have been placed anywhere better.
