Such a mixed experience here.

One doctor refused to prescribe S8 medications to me and my family, despite having been our GP for 18 months and having had letters from the psychiatrist who had overseen our medications until he had to step back to care for his family.

Next doctor had no problem with it and was really helpful. Thank you Dr Gill.

On Tuesday when the front desk staff failed to let me know that the GP had said yes to my request to change my son's appointment to telehealth, I assumed it had to be face to face, so I drove all the way to Bungendore to collect my son (would've been 160 minutes of driving), only to get bogged in the mud out there and then end up having to do telehealth after all and my busy day was written off, waiting for the NRMA to tow me out of the mud.

But today was the clincher - I went to collect the paperwork from Tuesday's appointment, including his scripts, to find that they were closed, at least 15 minutes before the advertised closing time. Google search, the sign on the door and even their answering machine all said 5:30pm, but no... closed and completely dark inside at 5:15pm. Nobody mentioned a change of hours when I called yesterday either.

Really disappointing, guys.

A big thank you to everybody at the Yarralumla Surgery in Bentham St. which is a wonderful example of a practice with sensitive, caring doctors and nurses.

Whenever I need to go there, I am unfailingly treated with kindness and consideration.
Dr Jenny Ross is an outstanding physician and the nurses are so efficient and personable, even when dealing with you on what is clearly a very busy day.
I feel so grateful to have access to this quality of health care and expertise, particularly when I hear of other peoples’ experiences

Yarralumla Surgery has been providing me with top health care for over 30 years. I have had some health issues that they have skilfully diagnosed and managed. The GPs have also provided good primary care to keep me healthy. I have always found they look beyond the obvious symptoms to ensure there are no underlying health issues that are less obvious.
I like the way that they involve me in my own health management so that I understand any illnesses, which helps me in managing them.
The receptionists are very friendly, helpful and professional. If I really need to see a doctor urgently they will facilitate this as best they can. And it is always nice to get a friendly smile from someone who knows my name when I walk in to the surgery.
They also have a selection of GPs who each have their own areas of special skills. So the practice can cater for particular needs.

Yarralumla Surgery is an outstanding medical surgery. Dr Jenny Ross has been our family doctor for many years now, and with small children we see her regularly. She is thorough, highly professional, takes time to listen (even under considerable time pressure), always follows up and cares about her patients. Her excellence as a doctor is well known in Canberra - every specialist and hospital doctor I have seen has commented on what a fantastic doctor she is. In our experience all the doctors and nurses at Yarralumla Surgery are excellent - we have seen many of them over the years and have always received outstanding care. We also really appreciate the service of the support staff at the surgery - I have always found them friendly and helpful - countless times they have fit our children in for urgent appointments and gone out of their way to assist us when we need it most. We always feel confident that our health is in the very best hands at Yarralumla Surgery and we are grateful for their care.

Trusted, caring and gentle doctors. The admin staff are very helpful, sympathetic and understanding. The nursing staff are amazing, taking care and time to explain. There is never any rush with anyone. Generally they run on time, but I like it that I can always ask if they are running late and if so, I duck put over the road for a coffee.
This is an outstanding medical practice. I've been going there for about 30 years.

While waiting for my annual flu jab at the Yarralumla Surgery yesterday I had the opportunity to observe the receptionist working in the flu clinic. She gave outstanding service, dealing with phone calls and patients with courtesy and good humour. Very impressive indeed.
