I would throughly recommend Hays, I worked as a contractor through them for 6 months, and worked hard enough to secure a permanent role at my assignment. The whole process is no fuss, and they can find you work very fast. I was paid on time no problems, and had the invitation to call the office if I had any dramas. I had Aedan as my case manager, he’s a true gentleman and very efficient at what he does. As long as you are willing to put in the work, Hays will give you the opportunity.

I engaged Hays to assist with finding work for a relocation to Canberra. Olinda helped organize several applications and was very responsive to any queries. Although I ended up proceeding with a role via another agency, Hays were very professional about it and offered to reach out before my contract ends in case I had need of their services. Very professional looking building and set up indeed, so many recruitment staff in Hays it's incredible really.

The process is a bit odd though, the police check can take months, by this time Hays has given up on you.
The processes completed by an external business (workpro i think?), again, can take months, but by then Hays staff have no interest in you or won't be putting you forward for the role.
These things are out of the hands of the applicant.
They want you to be able to start the job soon but then put in place processes that make this impossible. No doubt once they are completed, other jobs are available to apply for, but by then the recruitment staff who decide if you are applicable for roles, and therefore put you forward or decide not to, are less likely or inclined to put applicants forward.

And why are these staff always so young? Helping people get into jobs whilst working their first job seems like salt in the wound to me.

Fiona was so helpful and easy to deal with, she went above and beyond to get me an interview, after I had initially turned the role down. I'm loving my new position and it has turned out to be the perfect position for me just as Fiona had said.

I cannot speak highly enough about recruitment consultant, Jayde. Jayde was professional and competent in her dealings in matching me with suitable contract work. She was knowledgeable about the opportunities available and the varying recruitment processes of government departments (including likely timeframes for filling advertised positions). Jayde was well spoken, approachable and answered all my questions regarding the recruitment process. She kept me up to date on the progress of my application - even contacting me on her first day of leave. Jayde followed up on things as promised which has not always been my experience with other consultants. Based on my experience, I would use Hays Canberra again to seek future contracting opportunities.

Hays have been excellent for me. I moved to Canberra over a year ago and instantly got construction work through Simon to pay the bills while I hunted for my ideal role as a graphic designer. Simon would regularly check in on me.
Later, Nicole assisted me with finding an incredible graphic design role with a federal department and I've been there over a year now. Nicole will often catch up with me to see how I'm doing. Highly recommend, I was well looked after and always made to feel they cared about me.

The staff are very professional, friendly and are very keen to help. I could not believe my luck but they were able to find me a job the day I left my old job, absolutely incredible. Although it is not my "dream job" (no such thing anyway), the people in the new job are very professional and treat me like I am a permanent staff member, not just a contractor.
