Over the years I have always experienced very caring care at this hospital. Yesterday I was in dire straights with a severe chest infection, which my GP had been treating for 5 days without success. I was admitted to the E D at 11.13 am after seeing GP Access at 10.30 am. The Doctors and nurses sorted me out by 2.30pm. Thankyou to them I am getting better and will probably enjoy my family Christmas. Thanks a million, Nurse Laura and Dr Abdul & Merry Christmas!

A great hospital with fantastic nursing staff looking after my sick Mum at the moment. But they are so overworked and short staffed due to the NSW state government. Please contact your local State Member & Minister to complain to try help increase safe staffing levels! And use the QR code to sign the Nurse's petition ?

Took someone in after a minor car accident. Waited 13 hours just for them to tell us precisely nothing just ‘scans came back all clear’ and sent us home. No concussion test, nothing other than an X-ray for the physical damages. After visiting a GP a week after, we were told there was soft tissue damage and a concussion that went untreated.
ER staff communicated next to nothing to us, did nothing for flesh wounds (not even a clean or a bandage?). Wasn’t offered any food or a pillow, had to ask for water. Ignored for 3 hours at a time while he was wincing in pain.

Transferred to Mental Health unit after the 12 hour mark , no ER staff told us anything about his condition. MH staff told us to take a seat while he got us a blanket, only to immediately go to his office and scroll on his phone with his feet up. Gave up and left after that. A dangerous practice.

Especially upset after I called the ER prior to see if they even had a space for us and if they took these kinds of situation. Staff that answered said ‘the answer is yes’ then hung up on me as I was halfway through a sentence explaining the situation.

Worst emergency services in the hospital & i believe one of the worst customer service hospitals in the world. I had gone to ED for somet simple issue, same thing happened a week earlier where John Hunter nurse reviewed, attended & released in an hour, whereas in Mater the nurses are incapable to treat, pretty poor behaviour & almost waited 7 hours before being attended by some doctor.

The management seriously needs to review its operations and medical staff services. I think John hunter is far better, matured & great sympathy with patients too.

Mater has fall down from its reputation gradually & it feels to be one of most worst hospitals in the region.

I arrived by ambulance with AF, service was excellent, staff efficient and personable. Treated successfully and was able to go home later that night! Could not speak highly enough of my experience.

Yesterday was my first time at the Calvary Mater/first time in any hospital! (since birth lol). I had to have day surgery and had to go under for the first time ever. I was a bit nervous but all of the staff were sooooo friendly, personable and professional; I felt well looked after. I was sad that I woke up in a different room and couldn't say goodbye/thank you to the nurses! And I actually woke up and cried tears of happiness of how nice everyone was and how easy the process was.

So shout out to Lisa, Joel (only names I can remember sorry!) and all the other lovely staff that looked after me yesterday. Especially the lady who held my arm when I started crying before I went into the surgery. It all means a lot!

Agreed with the other one star reviews. This hands down is one of the worst emergency department I have ever been to. At times wait is good but the treatment from the nurses and doctors is appalling, I'm sure a piece of garbage stuck to the bottom of a shoe would get better treatment then a human patient. They do not care about your symptoms or helping to resolve them all that matters is sticking you in a room or bed for hours left alone in excruciating pain and then sent home to suffer. There really needs to be an overhaul of this department and training needs to be done.

As a support worker I am absolutely disgusted with the staff at this hospital, after taking in a client for breathing difficulties, he was stuffed around by staff there for near 2hrs for an xray, aware he has mental health issues and very clearly they have had no training on it and will not acknowledge his support worker to assist in it instead they escalated his mental health and then had security throw him out! Disgusted and appalled. Doesn't even deserve 1 star review. Oh and to top it off when I tried to deescalate and give him direction old security guard had a go at myself for doing so.
