This place is a joke. They don't help. And as soon as you ask to see a different psychiatrist they exit you from the program without telling you they even exited you! Their phychiatrists quit left and right so they are constantly reassigning new people to your case.in no way shape or form do I take narcotics or have ever been addicted to any drugs. Always passed my drug tests. They refused to send in mynon narcotic medicines so that I could find a different place to see a psychiatrist after they exited me. Would not recommend this place to anyone. The only person in the staff that is helpful is Stella.

So far, reasonable. I came in for counseling (alcohol/peer), and so far it has worked in my favor. Hopefully today I get the assistance I need from North Key, and corresponding group/entities. I think that community support just comes down to collaboration, courage and charity. Hopeful and optimistic..

I absolutely hate this place....

The last two years I had a lot of trouble with my mental health. The hospital sent me to North Key. North Key is a joke. They send you to the location in Fort Wright for intake and to explain why you're there. Then they send you to the location on Madison to see psychiatrist for medicine and a therapist. When meeting the psychiatrist (Ashley M) I just got the feeling of being rushed and that they didn't care. They just was like here's your medicine now get out type of attitude. The therapist was the same way. She didn't listen and she just kept trying to put me through different programs I didn't want to go through. She just wasn't willing to listen and that's really all I wanted. The therapist also referred me to a former drug addict (Tiffany Picklesimer) as peer support who's been through similar things. After talking to the peer support I didn't see how we were going through the same thing at all. She was a former drug addict and I was just a struggling mom. She also kept asking to come into my home and I thought that was just beyond weird. She also would not stop calling my phone and it was on a daily basis multiple times a day. So I eventually blocked her number and stopped going to North Key because it was honestly making things so much worse. Best decision I've ever made.

I have no addiction to anything. I struggle mentally. I went to north key off and on from 2007 to 1014. And now that I am struggling again I am going back. In my case as I am sure is the same with a few others, I wasn't giving it a chance. I fought back on everything from what was being said to my appointment times. I didn't realize I was working against them and myself. I would give up stop going for awhile. But I needed help so I went back every time. I had everything from a social worker, therapist, employment, housing. I went through it all. And when I gave it a chance it all worked. It was hard and there was set backs. But with their help I was able to overcome my issues. I have social anxiety, agoraphobia along with what comes with most mental issues. Depression and so on. There is a time I could not leave my house for months at a time. They stayed right there next to me. Called me out when I started sliding and gently helps me stand. There was a few minutes, and a few people that disrespectful. You have that everywhere you go. It took me changing therapist aver 4 times. But I didn't give up thanks to them not giving up on me. I have a good job and a nice home. I have a car and enjoy spending time outdoors with my friends and family. None of that would have happened without north key.

Where do I even BEGIN?! This place IS NOT helpful. Before I explain all the awful things that have happened to me... I take 100% responsibility for my actions. The way I have spoken/behaved. I will say that I am not 100% at fault. Also I am responsible for some of the appointments i have missed. This is within the last two-three years.
.
With that being said- this place is a absolute joke. They DO NOT care unless you're a drug addict. Theres more programs, therapy etc. For those struggling with drug addiction vs those that are struggling mentally. I have been waiting for an appointment since November of 2022. A week after my friend took her life. (This is where I am holding myself accountable). I have missed a couple of appointments due to work or other outside factors. Altogether maybe like 4 appointments. Aside from that It's been an absolute nightmare trying to get an appointment. I keep getting placed on hold for extended periods of time. I get told that there's absolutely nothing available til the end of October.

Then you have people at the call center (Lori- unsure if that's how you spell her first name)- who like to argue, be disrespectful and just down right mean. Even at times when I have not argued back, I would simply say "I don't want to speak to you, I want to speak to someone else". Im told no, that isn't possible. That there's "no one else". Then she will just argue every time you just ask her to respect your boundary and not wanting to speak with. Automatically transfer to a supervisor.

Then the therapist I DID have- Renee Wright.. I cancelled an appointment bc of conflicting work schedule.. I got a reminder text Sunday (a day before my appointment) that my appointment was on going. I call monday morning and ask for it to be cancelled. It was "cancelled" according to Jade at the call center. 2PM i get a call from my therapist (bc it was a phone session). I told her that I was not in the mood to talk and straight up told her that I was headed to work. Then she said what else is going on. I told her I have had a migraine for seven days and I was NOT in the mood to deal with her. Also explained that I had cancelled the appointment on friday and monday morning. So she wasn't suppose to talk to me. She then berated me for having a migraine and not going to the doctor. Not her concern.

Shelby- Crisis therapist- violated a HUGE privacy act... I had called on a saturday around 1:30 in the afternoon. I was transferred to her. I recognized the sound of the call connecting to the blue tooth to her car. I then heard her say to someone (be quiet i'm on the phone). I did complain. Did anything come it? No.

Emma Brooks- I was going thru a really bad episode and called crisis and was connected with an individual. They had me on speaker. Emma brooks was in the background and heard her say "Oh my god why is she acting like that". BRO WHAT? Made a complaint on her as well. Did anything ever come of it? Of course not.

The countless times the phone has "issues" when Im straight up hung up on. Then apparently a supervisor is contacted after I'm hung up on. How do I know this? Because when I am talked to- a supervisor is made "aware" of phone issues. When there isn't phone issues..

Finally- I have a screen shot of north key making a call to the hospital saying that I needed to be admitted to eastern state because of how upset I was and threating (not true) to end my life. They then said that I had "failed" out patient therapy. How can one fail out patient therapy if I wasn't really provided services in the first place?!

I have no bad experiences here. Everybody is friendly to me. I have been coming here since i was homeless in 2018. I got off the street in 2018. Been coming here since. I have a peer support, and counselor. Plus i go to Mondays depression Group. I love it. I have made some much needed friends along the way. I hope to make more in the near future.

Used to be a good place to get mental and physical help. Now the ladies in the front office are cold and uncaring. You will start with one person and two or three months down the line they will switch you to someone else, making you start the whole thing over again. Not good for anyone with any kind of anxiety. Don't bother.
