We recently had the pleasure of giving birth to our baby girl at the Women’s Care Unit at Lismore Base Hospital, and I can’t praise the staff enough! From the moment we arrived, the team was incredibly caring, attentive, and reassuring.
Throughout the entire process, they made both my partner and I feel supported and well-informed, which eased our anxieties during labor. The level of professionalism and compassion was outstanding, and every staff member went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and cared for.
After the birth, the aftercare was equally impressive. The nurses took the time to answer all our questions and provided valuable guidance as we adjusted to our new roles as parents. We felt genuinely cared for, and it made our experience all the more special.
Thank you to Dr Steele and Dr Addenbrooke and the entire team of the Women’s Care Unit for making our journey into parenthood a beautiful one. We are forever grateful!

I spent 5 hours here, just spending time with a loved one who had recently undergone a surgery. The staff throughout all of the hospital that I encountered were so lovely. Wow. It almost made me want to have a surgery (jks).
Mostly I was in the women’s health ward on level 8. I hope the nurses and doctors know how valued they are by our community. They’re real superheros.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for the professionalism and care and love that clearly is there. It is so appreciated.

Emergency. This hospital seems unfamiliar with the meaning of the word. I arrived at 10:50 pm with my wife, who is 39 weeks pregnant and had a swollen right leg. After triage, we waited for two hours without being seen. An hour into the wait, I approached the reception to ask for an estimated wait time, but the receptionist was unable to provide any information.
After two hours, my wife asked the nurse, and at 1:00 am, we were told there were still 10 people ahead of her in line, with no guarantee of being seen until the following day. The lack of empathy was astounding. My wife was in pain and extremely uncomfortable, yet we were not informed earlier about the extensive delay.
The behavior of the staff, particularly the receptionist and nurse, was unprofessional and disrespectful, with no compassion for patients. If this hospital has any form of management, I strongly urge you to review the conduct and training of your team. Laughing behind the glass while patients are in distress is unacceptable. This experience was nothing short of disgraceful.

I had my baby at Lismore Base a week ago. I had some complications that meant we decided to pull her out a few weeks early and it was very stressful. All the staff we dealt with were so kind, helpful and supportive and helped us understand the situation. We were mostly in the womens care unit but also had support from the special care nursery and paediatrics team and an amazing and calming anaesthetist. Have since had a home visit and telehealth. I couldn't fault anything it was a really positive experience. (ok actually food sucked) Feel lucky to be living near this hospital.

Lismore Base ~ passed around from one “specialty” to another with no one taking accountability (as in book “the House of God”) Developed serious hospital-acquired infection which became the ONLY condition medico’s seemed interested in. Sent home with original symptoms unresolved (episodes of extreme nausea, pain) & have lost >5kg since these episodes started 7 weeks ago. It’s 3 weeks before Christmas & can’t get GP appt. Just rang Lismore out-patients (lovely lady) to see when will be seen for further investigation & told I’ve been removed as not required?

Arrived with my partner on the 22 July 5.30 am he had kidney stones he was bent over and in a lot of pain one nurse behind the window laughed at him when he said what he had.
the other nurse wasn’t happy that we had arrived at there shift change I think.
she took his heart rate pulled it of his finger threw it on the floor when taking his temperature she was so rough putting it in his ear that it really hurt the nurses inside were great.
As for the emergency staff if you hate your job that much maybe you should look for another job

The most horrible and worst experience of my life. Never ever have I been treated so badly. Worst part is it's from the nurses. The surgeon's were amazing. Drs amazing. All other staff amazing. The nurses are outright uneducated judgemental beings.
